hello all

I don't really have much to report but I too am doing my bit to keep the blog alive, and I like Aurore's baby analogy, although the daily care may be asking a bit much! Also we may not be hearing much from Aylin for a while as she will be very busy....... ;-)

Currently I am 'Acting team leader' at work -what a stupid title! It sounds as though it's a football game! So I'm getting paid more money to only work 4 days a week and to attend often seemingly pointless meetings. But is good to occasionally make some real decisions.

The most exciting thing that has happened recently has been totally non work or study related - I've decided to extend my trip to France and stay for a full month so I'm there for our one year anniversary - who would have ever thought that would happen?!! So then it will be my turn, and Aurore's!, to be far too busy to post an update!

On the study front I am about half way through writing a review of 'The Cross Goes North' for a local journal. I won't hear about my phd applications until Christmas/New Year.

It's starting to heat up here with a few days in the mid 30's, so I suspect that summer may be hot. And unlike Europe our seasons start on the first of the month, so summer begins on dec 1.

Helio, if I'm ever in Portugal I'll have to time it to visit you and go to that fair!!

A local no-diet fair

Every year - for nine years now - my home town hosts a gastronomical event that celebrates the traditional drinks and cakery that emerged in western European monasteries from the Middle Age all the way to modern day. Most of the bakeries, family factories and religious congregations taking part in it are Portuguese - by reason of geographical proximity - but some are from Spain, France and, though not this time, Belgium and Italy. Besides food there are also several shows with medieval dancing and religious singing and yes, appart from sweet licors, in the fair one is bound to find hundreds of those egg abundant cakes I told you about in Sweden. It's definitively not the kinf of thing you want to go to if you're on a diet or have a liver problem. The fair takes place inside my hometown's monastery, of which I don't think I've ever shown photos of. I'll do it one of these days, but in the meantime you can check it here.

So without further delay, and either to be a feast for your eyes or a nauseating moment, here are some pictures of the event:

Back to Uppsala

Hello all!

Is this blog dead?! Hmm, I will try mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. 1...2...3...1...2...3... It's alive! Alive! So there we go! As the title says, I am going back to Uppsala. I am leaving on friday, and will stay 10 days. The reason why I go there is studies OF COURSE, but well, I miss Sweden since I left this country, so being back there will be a pleasure too! I hope I will have the opportunity to go to Ofvandhals again, and eat yummy cakes. I will eat one for each of you everytime I will go there!

Well, that's all folks, I hope I will have a good time there, even if without you. And also that I won't be too melancholic!

So try to take care of the blog. It needs a bath everyday at 5pm. Feed it every four hours, the baby's bottle is in the kitchen. And don't forget the appointment at the doctor's! See you soon guys!
